Tell everyone a little bit about yourself!

Hey Daniel,

My name is Nate Day and I am a writer and photographer from San Diego. A father of four boys, a constant traveler, beginning hunter, nature loving camper, and truck and gun enthusiast. 

What inspired you to build an F250 overland rig? Doesn’t seem nearly as common as the Toyota overlanders out there.

A former owner of an '01 Tundra TRD, I made the decision to stick with a pickup when the time came to "upgrade". My decision to move up to a Powerstroke came after evaluating a few needs. My wife and I had a loose (now rock solid) plan to have four children so I needed a large cab. I also knew from previous experience that I wanted a long bed. With Toyota, these were in fact mutually exclusive. So, that ruled the new Tundra out. I also had an interest in diesels. With a small amount of research, I found that with a Powerstroke or Cummins, I could have it all and more. I naturally lean more towards Ford so that was the final decision. Now, I have a crew cab, eight-foot bed, four wheel drive, F350 Lariat Powerstroke with a stock 400/800 HP/Torque.

Then, after a bumpy road trip on stock suspension and tires, the "blessing" from my wife was given and, well, now I have my current truck. The goal was to create a truck that I could use daily as well as around the farm when needed. Then, when we had time, use to explore the American west. Plus, survive a zombie apocalypse.
